John Wade. Presenting the fruits of his considerable research on the
Wrayflex story. The research is ongoing so each time John talks to us
he has developments to reveal. If you have heard it elsewhere it will
certainly be different at Whatton AND, I can tell you, John makes it all
really interesting!
After
Lunch –
"SHOW
and TELL" session during which members demonstrate and talk about a
favourite camera from their collection which conforms to criteria set
out in advance by our chairman.
For
this meeting the criterion is any make or model of BOX CAMERA. Aim for a
talk of about 5 minutes - you may be able to talk for longer if time
permits. You could also consider using the same camera for the SHOOT &
SHOW display – How about THAT for an idea?
In
advance of this meeting the more industrious/energetic amongst us can be
creating a new shot for the "SHOOT & SHOW" presentation using an old
camera from your collection. (The Box camera perhaps?) Bring your shots
AND the camera! If you can't manage it this time keep in mind the
Christmas meeting at which we would like once again to hold a major
"SHOOT & SHOW" display and competition, with everybody making a
contribution, and a prize, plus the Pemberton Billing challenge trophy
for the most interesting combination of a collectable camera with an
image showing off its capabilities. There will also be a separate prize
for the best image in this competition, as such. All images entered for
this annual contest should have been taken, using the collectable camera
entered, since 1 December 2007.
Finally,
can we invite yet more interesting contributions to the junk auction?
Your junk may be someone else’s treasure and there is no accounting for
true collectors’ tastes. Our resident auctioneer has not been selected
yet (or been volunteered) but he/she WOULD love to be offering some even
more TEMPTING items.
